The arrest of a Lagos teacher for assaulting a three-year-old student in the classroom

 

After a three-year-old kid in a Lagos school struggled to follow directions during a writing assignment, a teacher was arrested for

physically abusing the child. A troubling video of the occurrence, which happened as the student was attempting to write the number six, swiftly went popular on social media. The young youngster is repeatedly slapped by the teacher, Stella Nwadigo, in the video.

Nigerians are furious by the video, and many are demanding that the teacher's behavior and the school's involvement in the incident be thoroughly and immediately investigated. The teacher's arrest was confirmed by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVVA). In an interview with The Punch on Wednesday, DSVVA Executive Secretary Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said that the instructor was still in police prison and that the situation was being handled by the authorities. She also promised the public that an inquiry would be conducted and that charges might be filed in response to the results.

The issue has been referred to the appropriate ministries for additional review, according to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, which has also been involved. The victim of the assault has been admitted to the hospital, according to Ebenezer Omejalile, the Chief Operating Officer of the Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network. The act was denounced by Omejalile, who called it "the highest form of child cruelty." He emphasized how the assault could cause the youngster to sustain severe physical and psychological injuries.

Omejalile further demanded that the child be supported by an intervention plan that included psychological support and medical testing. The teacher's cruelty was deemed "the highest form of child abuse by a supposed caregiver" by him, who strongly denounced her behavior.

Omejalile also emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive investigation into whether the instructor had mistreated other pupils by the Lagos State Ministry of Education. He called on the Ministry to act quickly to make sure that this kind of behavior doesn't happen again.

Vivour-Adeniyi responded by telling the public that the teacher was still in police custody and that the investigation was still in progress. She underlined that abuse of any kind would not be accepted and restated the government's commitment to safeguarding children in school settings. Additionally, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has encouraged the public to use their social media accounts or toll-free hotline to report any pertinent information.
